Herbert M. (Jack) Hamby, 88, was born March 7, 1929 to George W. and Nannie Leopard Hamby.
He was the fifth of six sons and had two sisters. His death occurred on August 10, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Carolyn, two daughters, Berta Hopkins and Caron Cooper and son Andrew Hamby. He has five grandchildren: Alisha and Robert Cooper, Nancy Huggins, Caroline Hopkins and Selah Hamby. Surviving also is his sister Derleith Hamby.

CW3 Hamby graduated from Reidville Elementary/High school and obtained an associate degree from Rutledge College. He began his military career in S.C. National Guard and retired after 22 years in the U.S. Army. He later retired from S.C. Employment Service and enjoyed regular golf outings.

Memorial service will be held at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church, Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Memorials can be sent to Greer Community Ministries or Liberty Hill U.M.C. at 301 Liberty Hill Rd.,
